Russell Family

The Russell family was hit with a tragic event on New Years Eve. James was in a skydiving accident. He was coming in too close to power lines and when he tried to correct basically his parachute folded and he hit the ground at over 60mph. He was air lifted to St Francis in Tulsa. He was put on a ventilator and has since been able to tolerate coming off of it. He broke both legs in several places with bone sticking out and some pieces missing. He has had 3 leg surgeries so far and at least 4 more to go to remove all the rods and reset everything. His face also hit the ground hard. He broke his nose and left side of his face has fractures. The left orbital socket is broken in half.  He lost a lot of blood and received some during the operation. He was sedated for pain management and to keep him from fighting the vent but as of today he is off the vent. They didn't see any brain injuries but he does has a spinal fracture that they think will not require surgery. They have four kids and 2 of them live at home. James will be out of work for a very long time with a long road of recovery and rehab. Lana will be the only one working and she will be taking care of her husband now as he recovers. They are going to have medical and everyday life expenses.
