440 Castro Fund

To the 440 community,
First off we’d like say thank you. It has been a difficult year to say the least and it fills us with gratitude that you’ve been there for us these last few months during our reopening. It has reminded us that 440 isn’t just another bar but a staple in the LGBTQ community. It’s shown how we can all come together and adapt to change. Hell, a year ago we wouldn’t let you bring drinks outside, now you can only drink outside... Temporarily of course.
Back in March we had to close our doors for the first time in 16 years. Now that we’ve had to close them again for the second time to follow another shelter in place government order, it’s left us all with that same feeling of uncertainty about the future. Unfortunately this will be our first Christmas that we’ve spent apart, the first New Years without sharing champagne and poppers (the party kind) and the first time we won’t be able to help the morning after. These are just some milestones we’ve enjoyed celebrating with you over the years that will be missed.
So once again we humbly ask for your help in supporting the staff who’ve been there rain(literally) or shine making sure no one goes thirsty.... or hungry per SF regulations.
Any amount of donation will aid in keeping the staff afloat and will be greatly appreciated. Remember this lockdown will be over just like the first, and we will enjoy good times together again.
Thank you and please be safe,
The 440 staff
