Wednesday we traveled from a horse stud in Hamley Bridge to Mallala and got caught in the pinery fire, surrounded by black smoke, burning trees and paddocks we continued and survived.
We realised the impact of the fire in Mallala when horse-clients started to call that their property was hit by the flames.
We returned to Hamley Bridge and when the police allowed only us to enter, we entered an apocalyptic scene of burning houses, trees and paddocks.
At the studfarms we realised the impact of the fire.
At the first stud 30 horses where treated, including 6 Mares with foals, badly burned eyes, swollen and burned muzzles and udders.
The second stud we reached by driving again trough the fire we found their beautiful arabian stallion burned over 30% of his body, face and legs.
We drove back trough an apocalyptic burning landscape of spotfires.
The next stable we had to put 3 horses to sleep and treated 4 horses. the following hours until 3.00 AM we were busy to treat and check many many horses.
Horses and their owners are in shock!
Badly burned horses require intensive treatment for weeks or months other horses require antiinflamatories, eyecreams and antibiotics.
I personaly will donate all my expertise, time, consumables, petrol and medicines to save you all!!!
PLEASE could YOU HELP as well with a small or big donation to save these gracious and beautiful horses.
Thank You!
