Nursing in Nepal!

Hello, dear friends,

I'm excited to share an update on my nursing journey. I've been given the opportunity to take part in an offshore clinical placement in Nepal as part of my nursing degree.

This program is organized by Beyond Borders, a non-profit organization that connects health professionals worldwide and provides resources and services to third world countries. The University of Tasmania has selected 12 nursing students, including myself, for this experience. In November, we'll be heading to Nepal for three weeks, working in various hospitals, clinics and community care programs.

What makes this experience unique is our chance to independently raise funds. Once we arrive in Nepal we will collectively determine how and where to allocate the funds we have raised.

Previous groups have achieved great things with their gathered contributions, such as acquiring emergency equipment and educational resources, providing refrigeration for vaccines, and supporting programs to promote women's menstrual health and awareness in rural villages.

It's easy to forget how fortunate we are to have access to abundant healthcare resources and equipment in Australia. This trip is an opportunity to share our privilege and make a positive impact on a community in need.

Over the next month I’m taking on the challenge of running and hiking a cumulative 100kms to show my commitment to this cause!
