45 for 45
SUNDAY, OCT. 10, 2021 - WE DID IT!
I am finally closing down our 45-for-45 Fundraiser that we started almost 18 months ago. We raised over $11,000 and we will finally retire our mortgage at the end of this year.

The purpose of our True Sanctuary fundraiser is to raise money to keep our church building going 24/7 as a temporary shelter to a small number of homeless individuals.
Our homeless residents have been instrumental in caring for the building and the grounds, building two beautiful patios, creating raised bed planters full of flowers and veggies, and caring and advocating for other homeless individuals in the community!

Help pay off our 45-year old church's $45K mortgage so we can use the money for our Homeless Outreach program
ABOUT FCMF
Fort Collins Mennonite Fellowship (FCMF) has been in Fort Collins, CO for 45 years and we are committed to helping the homeless in our community. Homelessness is a growing problem throughout our nation and in the State of Colorado. Social research shows that lack of shelter is traumatic enough, but loss of relationships can have an even greater impact.
Here in Fort Collins, we are now seeing an increase in the number of senior and disabled individuals in the homeless population. We need your help to maintain and expand our current Homeless Outreach program to help these folks feel safe and welcome.
ABOUT OUR HOMELESS OUTREACH PROGRAM
In 2002 we opened the first Severe Weather Day Shelter in Ft. Collins at our church, and 10 years later (2012), we began hosting homeless families in our building through the Faith Family Hospitality program (FFH)). In 2013 we rented our building to FFH as a Day Center, open 6 days a week to homeless families. In 2014 we added a laundry room and shower facilities for FFH families. In 2015 we opened our doors to homeless individuals on Friday evenings for food, warmth, showers, and friendship, and in 2018 we did the same on Sunday mornings. Recently, we battled City Council and were finally allowed to add outdoor lockers so the homeless can safely store their few possessions.
Today, our building is open 7 days a week. We have created a space that is safe, welcoming, and non-judgmental for the homeless. People do not have to qualify to come here. In our sanctuary, they can eat, rest, shower, visit, and worship. Our welcome is unconditional!
WHAT WE NEED TO DO
Due to the increasing homeless population in Ft. Collins, we need to expand our Homeless Outreach program. In January 2020, FFH is moving its Day Center to a bigger location. This frees up space in our building to accommodate more homeless individuals.
After careful consideration, we realize the best way to ensure the building remains open 7 days a week is to pay off our mortgage of $45,000. This frees up an estimated $1,800 a month to cover increased utility, water, food, and supply costs to serve the homeless.
