Chloe's Hip Surgery
Donation protected
Chloe is my 8 year old dog. I've had her since she was just 4 weeks old. She has grown up with my son since he was brought home from the hospital. Chloe is a part of our family and means the world to me and my son.
On new years eve while I was at work, Chloe managed to get the bedroom window open and jump out of our 2nd floor apartment. She then made her way out of the apartment complex and down the road to a busy intersection where she was hit by a car. Someone who witnessed her get hit, picked her up and took her to the nearest emergency vet. When I arrived at the emergency vet's office Chloe was in the back, she has scrapes and bruises all over her. She was given a shot of pain medication and I was told she was stable. They needed my okay to do x-rays on her. She was unable to use her back legs and they wanted to make sure she wasn't bleeding internally.
After reviewing her x-rays the veterinarian told me that both of her back hips are out of socket. The only way for her to be able to use her back legs and walk again is for her to have surgery. She was prescribed 3 medications and I took her home. She has been in a lot of pain and we've been doing everything we can to make her comfortable.
Monday morning I called the veterinarian and I was told she would have to see a specialty vet for the kind of surgery she needed. I then called the two places I was referred to. Tuesday we drove her out to the university of Florida's small animal hospital to be checked out again. After looking over her and the x-rays, they agreed that she would need the surgery and best to do it as soon as possible. They gave Chloe a fentanyl patch on her back to help with the pain. She is home now, she is still going through so much pain.
I was quoted $5000-$6000 for her surgery. Unfortunately the vet's office do not do payment plans. I have already paid $800 in the last few days just for her emergency visits. I am doing everything I can to get the money she needs for her surgery.
Chloe is my baby, she has been by my side for the last 8 years. She is such a sweet loving girl, everyone who meets her loves her. She deserves the best life possible. If you can help in any way it is greatly appreciated, even if you took the time just to read this it means so much to us.
