Brain Surgery

I need help.. and trust me that it's taking me a lot to ask for it, especially like this. First off, thank you for taking the time to read this,  It means so much to me. A few months ago I found myself in an emergency room because my entire left side went completely numb and I was convinced I was having a stroke. After a couple of hours of evaluation and some testing the emergency room wasn't able to find anything. They sent me home on stroke watch and told me if it came back to head to a stroke center. About a month later it was back, the numbness and weakness and now difficulty seeing and difficulty swallowing. To a different ER I went. After more hours of being there and an MRI I got an answer; I have something called a Chiari Malformation which essentially means the back of my skull is malformed and it's caused my brain to be pushed down into my spinal column. The nurse that was taking care of me tried to talk me into taking 3-4 days off work to recover and I kept telling her there was no way I could afford to. Reluctantly she accepted and gave me the information for a surgeon and told me to get an appointment set up with them. I had no idea what I was in store for. Since my diagnosis I have essentially lived in doctor's offices. Doing nerve testing, visual testing, all sorts of things which as I'm sure you can imagine gets expensive very fast. After the nerve testing came back I was informed I needed brain surgery. They needed to cut open the back of my skull, open it up, possibly remove some vertibrae, all for my brain to be able to HOPEFULLY function as it needs to. Despite this being something they think I was born with the side effects of of it came on fiercely out of virtually no where and it's given me no choice but to have this surgery. The pressure had most gotten to be too much and it was causing it to cut off signal to my nerves which explains the numbness and weakness. Not to mention that the pressure is also not allowing spinal fluid to be able to move around my body as it should. Rather quickly it went from something that would cause issues on and off to a constant thing. Instead of my left side being numb and weak it's now my whole body except for the times I get nerve pains that make it feel like I just got shot somewhere with a flaming arrow. Because of all of this I have a hard time speaking, walking, swallowing, thinking and especially remembering anything. Which all of these things make it hard enough to function, let alone be productive at work which is an additional stressor on the entire situation.. it's even gotten so bad that while trying to get to work I blacked out for a moment and got into a car accident. Minor as it was I'm still bothered that it happened in the first place.. Not to mention that I was recently informed that the pressure is making me lose my field of vision which I was told is the first step to going blind and the surgeon let me know that with how rapidly this is progressing, he sees me having to use a walker/be in a wheelchair without this procedure.. At this point I'm just rambling and kudos to you for sticking it out (no but seriously, thank you so much.)  Any little bit will help us get closer to where we need to be and again thank you so so so much from my incredibly stressed husband and myself. If you have questions please feel free to ask me any I'll do the best to answer that my dumb squished brain will allow.
