Jennie loses leg, horrific accident
Donation protected
My 21 year old cousin, Jennie, was working as a waitress while attending college. On January 13th, she was heading home by herself. Unfortunately, she fell asleep at the wheel getting into a serious accident, hitting the guard rail at least ten times, and then rolled her car.
Her lower extremities were severely injured. Her left leg had many breaks, but surgeries have hopefully fixed this with rods and screws. Her right leg was much more serious. Bones weren't just broken, they were crushed. Her muscles and tissues were deteriorating. Her right leg had to be partially amputated, right below the knee. Jennie is still in the hospital, which is an hour away from her family, with complications with her right leg. Due to skin grafts and infections, she has had multiple surgeries. She will not be discharged until she is clear of infections.
Jennie's parents were able to find her a rehabilitation facility in Boston for her much needed therapies once she is discharged from the hospital - we are not sure when that will be or how long she will be there.
Due to her age, and being in college, she is still under her mother's medical insurance. This does cover most of the medical expenses. However, there are many expenses that are not covered that are stacking up for Jennie's recovery. Some of these expenses include the high deductible, co-pays, lost wages and traveling to and from the hospital for the entire family, and many more miscellaneous expenses that keep popping up. When she is in the rehabilitation facility, hotel expenses will also accumulate so that her family will not have to travel as far to help her through this.
I will be updating as her recovery progresses.
If you can't give a monetary donation, please continue to pray and I ask you to please share this page.
