David's Medical bills
Donation protected
After starting his first year in the PhD program for Mathematics at Clemson, David was plagued with seizure like activity. He had to take medical withdraw from the university, which means he no longer received his stipend from his graduate assistanceship. There was a period where he was having 5 large seizures a day! This all started back in November of 2017. After 3 times in the ER and a week in the hospital during Dec 2017, things seemed to stabilize due to medication; however, they still do not know what is the cause of his illness. In April 2018 things started to get worse again. There were several ER visits, an ambulance ride and a two week stay in the hospital before he was cleared to go home. While we still do not have answers (even after 4 EEGs, 2 CAT scans, 4 MRIs and a PET scan), all the medications (10 pills a day) seem to be keeping everything in check, with the rare episode, for right now.
We are struggling with medical bills. Even after insurance, the ambulance was a little over $1,500 and the last hospital stay was over $5,500. I was suggested to Go Fund Me by two different people and took it as a sign. As we are struggling graduate students, any little bit helps.
