“I think if you want to accomplish something big, you need to be a bit shaken. And we’ve gotten a bit too comfortable here. So we’re going to move to California and see what happens.” - anonymous, Humans of New York
Dear Family and Friends:
A month ago, I was accepted into Temple University's L.A. Internship Program. In the Spring, I will be interning and taking classes in Los Angeles, California: the heart of the entertainment industry. I am incredibly excited for this invaluable experience. This is an opportunity to grow, to explore and to learn. During my time in California, I will be working in entertainment public relations and communications. This is a job I want to after graduation and participating in this program is my way of working towards that goal. I am very lucky to have been chosen for a chance to study in an entirely new environment, but it comes with a price.
During this semester, I have worked 15 to 30 hours a week in order to afford the expenses. Living is L.A. for 4 months isn't cheap, so I will be taking out a personal loan as well. Also, I was awarded a scholarship for my academic merit. Altogether, the program costs come close to $10K, not including my tuition. I am proud to say this is something I whole heartily believe in pursuing in order to gain experience that will benefit my career in the long run.
This year for Christmas and my 21st birthday, I am politely asking for friends and family to consider donating to my educational study away program. I have surrounded myself with some pretty amazing people and I would not be where I am today without the help of many of my friends and family. I will be updating you all with weekly blog posts soon. Your generosity is astounding. Thank you so much!
I've got something big to accomplish, so I'm going to move to California.
If you don't want to donate to my study away, then please consider donating to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society in memory of my grandma, Nancy E. Morgan. Thank you for all your help!
Best Wishes,
