2018 Rwanda Mission
Donation protected
I have been blessed with the opportunity to travel with the Charleston Wesley Foundation to Rwanda to serve a local community, spread the love of Christ, and examine the stunning reconciliation efforts that have occurred there.
In 1994, Rwanda was ripped apart by violent genocide that claimed the lives of over 800,000 people. Since then, though, the country has come together and found peace in a way that should be no small inspiration for the rest of the world. However, this peace did not absolve the issue of poverty, and nearly half off the population still suffers severely due to impoverished conditions.
Our team will therefore partner with a local church, and the mission organization Hope On A Thousand Hills to engage with the community in VBS and after school programs, as well as working with a nutritional program and the education of sustainable farming techniques.
At the College of Charleston I have not only enjoyed great spiritual growth through my time at the Charleston Wesley Foundation, my eyes have also truly been opened to instances of injustice and intolerance that desperately need to be combatted within our own communities and countries. That is why I'm so excited to travel to Rwanda; I look forward not only to the opportunity to serve God's kingdom, but for the chance to learn from people who have overcome such barriers to find powerful, lasting peace.
The costs for this trip total to be $2400 for travel and materials, and any donation amounts are truly and greatly appreciated!
If you would like to donate more privately, please contact me at [email redacted]c.edu.
I am so excited for this adventure, and already cannot wait to share all that I will learn. Thank you!
