Breast Cancer Research

For those of you who don’t know me my name is Nicole, I am 20 years old. I am a Carer who looks after those who are vulnerable and in need of support in their home. I absolutely love what I do and I love life in general . I am doing a tandem skydive on the 31st of August in strathallan to raise money for a charity close to my heart and raise money for more research to find cures for this horrible disease.

Last year my perspective on life changed. My mum broke the news to me and my two wee sisters that she had been diagnosed with Breast Cancer, I literally can’t explain the feeling you get in the pits of your stomach and the cold shake that runs through your body to anyone that doesn’t know the pain of being told your parent, your world. Someone you could simply not imagine life without has something so vile which has devastated so many families.

Why my mum? My mum has never hurt anyone? Why? Why? Why?

When I tell you I never slept soundly for weeks. Thinking about ridiculous things like I don’t know how to pay for a house? What would I do if it got really bad? I would need to look after my wee sisters? Will my mum be okay? Millions of thoughts running through my mind at once It was horrendous.

Weeks then months passed and my mum was up and down from hospital for scans and tests, I count my lucky stars. Seriously. Mum found out it could be treated with radiotherapy and a lumpectomy operation and was very lucky that the cancer wasn’t growing. it took months and months to recover as radiotherapy knocked her for six but she is back to my mum again and is CANCER FREE.

Now I am raising these funds because, although my mum has been lucky. A lot of others have not, in the uk the lifetime risk of a woman developing breast cancer is 1 in 7 and men 1 in 555, check your boobs Everytime you are in the shower!!! Breast cancer is rife I know so many people who have either had it or know someone who has had it. The earlier you catch it the better. Don’t ever think it can’t happen to you. My mum was told the first time she had an appointment regarding the lump it was nothing to worry about. YOU KNOW YOUR BODY, never stop getting on at them when you know something is not right.

My mum was lucky, a lot of others aren’t. Be safe troops. If it isn’t right get it checked. Please donate even if it’s a small amount, every little helps and greatly appreciated ❤️

All funds raised will go straight to breast cancer research!
