4th Annual Kids Field Day in Harlem Promotes Outdoor Physical Fitness and Team Building, Among NYC Youth.

Saturday, August 3, 2024 — Harlem, New York TheSchoolGirl Inc. is thrilled to announce the much anticipated 4th Annual Kids Field Day, a community program aimed at encouraging Harlem children's outdoor involvement and physical activity. Families can enjoy creative art stations, face painting, flag football, basketball lessons, STEM workshops, an obstacle course, a potato sack race, and more! We're intentional in celebrating each child's unique talents and interests.

Shatema Williams, Founder and CEO of TheSchoolGirl Inc a certified W/MBE., recognized the growing concern over the decline of outdoor activities among children due to the overuse of technology. Our mission is to inspire kids to embrace the outdoors and lead healthy, active lives.

In partnership with NYC Health + Hospitals/Gotham Health Sydenham clinic, Harlem Grown and COOL Kids, we're bringing over 250 families together for a day of fun, learning, and connection! SkateEverythingSchool will be on-site with skateboard lessons that teach more than just skills. Enjoy creative art stations, face painting, flag football, basketball lessons, STEM workshops, an obstacle course, a potato sack race, and more! We're celebrating each child's unique talents and interests.

For the past three years, we have organized this free event for children and families in Harlem, providing a memorable day filled with engaging art, fitness, and social activities. In 2022, over 200 children ages, 4-13 participated, enjoying activities like potato sack races, archery, skateboarding lessons, arts & crafts stations, and more. We also provided community service hours for over twenty volunteers.

This year we’re looking to add more enrichment opportunities and giveaways. With your support not only can we provide a fun, transformative experience for our youth but we can also relieve some of the financial burden of back to schoool supply expenses for parents in the community. Not only will kids and families have a good time on Kids Field Day including a meal but our goal is to have every child leave with a backpack filled with back to school supplies.
