Katie's Liver Fund
Donation protected
Hi friends and family! As some of you may know, but most do not, I have a rare condition known as Polycystic Liver Disease. This is a hereditary disease and my two girls, Elly and Zoe, have a strong chance of inheriting it from me. I was initially diagnosed with PLD in 2012 after the birth of my first child, Elly. My cysts started out small and few and at first were something the physicians weren't overly concerned with. Within the last year, however, they have grown exponentially and now are innumerable. Being short of stature at five foot nothing I am running out of room to house these pesky and painful cysts. Other complications that come with PLD are increasing liver size, decreased liver function, chronic fatigue, and shortness of breath. At this point my liver specialist has realized that my condition is something that he is not equipped to handle locally. He has referred me to Mayo Clinic in Minnesota for liver resection or even possible Liver Transplant depending upon what the surgeon thinks is necessary. As you can imagine, travel expenses, time off work, and battling with insurance to cover out of network care will start to add up. If you could please keep our family in your prayers that would be greatly appreciated! If you find some extra pocket change lying around and wish to donate it would be put to good use! I am hoping to put this chapter of life behind me sooner than later so I can be a strong and healthy wife for my husband and mommy for my girls. ♥
