Help For Nonverbal Child With Level 3 Autism
Donation protected
Hi, My names Kaisons Mom. I'm a mom to three boys. My youngest son Kaison has had a hard life since he was born. He was born unexpectedly at home.. in the toilet. I believe he suffered a lack of oxygen or brain damage.. because later down the road we would find out he is nonverbal and has level 3 autism. Kaison can't talk. He used to say my name, Mama and eat alot better. After he turned one he stopped eating anything except chicken patties and he doesn't talk anymore. But Kaison is the sweetest boy in the world. He loves ninja turtles, paw patrol, and sensory toys. He loves swimming with me and bath time. He loves spending time with me before bedtime and snuggling. At bedtime I finally get to love on Kaison. Alot of autistic children or people aren't affectionate so bedtime is our special time. Its a blessing. This past year we were evicted due to personal reasons but mostly because I have to stay with him. He can't go to daycare because of his needs and financial reasons. If I could afford to find a daycare for him with kids like him that would be a miracle. Kaison did start a program called the P3 which is before prek. Its a class with other kids like him. Even though he can't write or play like others I think he's starting to enjoy his time there. It is only 3 hours out of the day so the rest of the day we are together.
Kaison has issues with his teeth as well. We have state insurance so its hard to see a dentist that can work with him. There's only one in the area and he needs a special dentist. His teeth are degrading due to his sippy cup. So this week (January 2024) Kaison has his first dentist appointment! Its just a check up to see how he reacts to everything. This will determine if he needs any work done. I believe he will need some due to the sippy cup. So we are nervous about that because alot of autistic kids have to be sedated to have work done. So im not sure what thats going to look like.
Autistic children and adults have trouble sleeping at night or have sleeping disorders. Kaison hasn't slept one full night since he was born. I have slept by his side since he was born. He doesn't have a set schedule but he usually goes to sleep around 8 pm and wakes up between 2 am and 3 am every night and he's up laughing and carrying on like its normal. So he really needs a safety bed because he's up all night long, he wanders out of bed. Kaison is like a 1 year old baby but he's 4. I really need to get the proper equipment for him to be safe. Some safety bed are really expensive and honestly i just want something to keep him safe. One day we hope to have a cubby bed which has cameras, a light, and other features that make it safe and easy for people. These funds will be used to get Kaison a safety bed, some of these beds run up to 10,000 dollars. We are going to get Kaison a crash pad, which is for him to jump on because he is constantly jumping off of furniture which is really dangerous. We are going to get Kaison sensory equipment like lights, a sensory tube, and a sensory swing.. All of these items are really expensive and insurance doesn't cover them. Thank you! Kaisons Mom!
Update: May 2024
Kaison is doing great. He still needs dental surgery but the dentist that can do it is in Baltimore. I am having severe car trouble and do not have the money to get it fixed at the moment. I did get Kaisons paperwork updated so hopefully we will have everything to get him applied for benefits soon! We may be moving at the end of the summer due to the area being really expensive we can't afford anything even with Kaisons dad working. I can only afford liability insurance at the moment and currently have two broken windows. Need new brakes, alignment, tires.. etc its just too much. So day to day items like pullups for Kaison are hard to get. I bought him a sleep tent and other sensory equipment. If we could save a little to help with moving and day to day items that would be a huge help!
Thank you again!
