What is TV Butte & How Does it Effect Me?
Just a 1/2 mile from the town of Oakridge O.R., the historic, original TV Butte, with its rich Indigenous history and named for the broadcasting station it used to host, is a vital part of Oakridge. As an Elk calving ground and popular mountain biking trail, it is vital to the economy and ecosystem of our community.
Old Hazeldell, the proposed quarry from the millionaire Ed King (of King Estates Winery), aims to strip, dig and blast over 16 million tons from 46 acres of this land. If opened, it will blast toxic silica dust into our air, put 80 mining trucks on our roads and Highway 58 daily, and use thousands of gallons of water, every single day.
With your help we can prevent this. We've managed to stop the quarry until now. But King is making another attempt at our land and we need your help to fight back and protect our town. Please donate today!
