My name is Jeannette and I am asking for your help today for my friend Tracy. At 47 years young she has recently been diagnosed with stage 2 invasive ductal carsonoma breast cancer. .
Tracy has spent the last 15 years working as a Caregiver , her chosen career, providing outstanding care and compassion to her clients . I see this first hand as she cares for my own mother, who is 91 years old with advanced Alzheimer’s.
Tracy is a strong, courageous woman who has been helping others for much of her life and who would likely not ask for help for herself . She was a mother at a very young age, put herself through school and graduated from the Continuing Care Assistant program, worked at seniors homes and hospitals in Amherst and Parrsboro before finding her way to Dartmouth where she has lived and worked for the last 13 years .
Through the challenging and unpredictable journey ahead - 5 months of chemo, surgery and then radiation, Tracy will likely not be able to work much over the next year as she manages the side effects of chemo and the recovery from surgery. With smaller pay checks any without any disability or critical illness insurance, Tracy is worried about the financial challenges ahead.
Financial issues shouldn’t be on her mind. To help make the road ahead a little less rocky so that Tracy can focus on healing and recovery, I’m asking to help ‘care for the caregiver’ with any donation that would help her pay for healthy food, rent, and prescription meds over the next year .
