Rutledge Hurricane Harvey Recovery
Donation protected
This GoFundMe campaign is being organized by Ashley (Rutledge) Evers of Richlands, NC and Andrew Rutledge of Baton Rouge, La to assist in helping our parents repair/replace their home and any goods lost.
Thank you for your time and interest in helping us help our parents recover from the damages to their home after Hurricane Harvey has left water inside their home in Vidor, Texas.
When our parents were boated out of their home on Wednesday, August 30, 2017, the water was already standing at approximately ten inches inside of the home and still rising BEFORE the local bayous and rivers would crest. We do not yet know the exact extent of the damage, but are sure that the contents of the house, at the very least, will have to be replaced. They have been unable to get back to their home due to water over the roadways into Vidor.
This home has been standing since 1958. Our grandparents brought our Dad home to this house in 1959 as a newborn. He has never seen flooding like this before in Vidor and the surrounding areas, likely because it has never happened before. Many, many people in SETX/Vidor are without flood insurance because these areas never flood- our parents are among those without flood insurance.
Everyone in SETX affected by Harvey has lost something significant. Many of our friends have lost everything they own. Our parents have also lost most, if not all, of what they own, when they didn't own too much to begin with.
The funds from this campaign will be used for the following for our parents, Ernie & Dianne Rutledge exclusively:
*Basic and simple furniture needs (couch, table, mattress, etc)
*Basic and simple clothing needs (shoes, under garments, socks, shirts, pants)
*Cleaning supplies (bleach, gloves, rags, etc)
*Toiletries
*Home building/repair supplies (Sheetrock, flooring, appliances, HVAC and septic repairs, etc).
*Other household goods (Microwave, dishes, sheets, pillows, laundry detergent, etc)
Funds raised will go into a Savings Account in my name, Ashley Evers, and I will be withdrawing and sending to my parents myself. The account I have set up in my name is completely new and empty and has no other funds in it, so as not to blend any monies that are so generously given.
No amount donated is too small. If you are unable to donate, please join us in prayer for our parents and for all those affected by Hurricane Harvey and the devastating flood waters.
“For you, O God, tested us;
you refined us like silver.
You brought us into prison
and laid burdens on our backs.
You let men ride over our heads;
we went through fire and water,
but you brought us to a place of abundance.”
Psalm 66:10-12
“All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. God is our merciful Father and the source of all comfort. He comforts us in all our troubles so that we can comfort others. When they are troubled, we will be able to give them the same comfort God has given us. For the more we suffer for Christ, the more God will shower us with his comfort through Christ.”2 Corinthians 1:3-5 NLT**picture shown is after waters started to recede.
