Olay's MSc.
Tax deductible
Dear faithful core supporters of the Saola Working Group,
I am writing with a special one-time appeal, for your support to a rising star of wildlife conservation in Laos, young Chanthasone ("Olay") Phommachanh.
Olay has nearly finished his MSc. in wildlife ecology, thanks to scholarships and support from the Wildlife Conservation Network and the Los Angeles Zoo. But to complete his studies, he needs one last fieldtrip for data collection (a final check in early January of camera-traps with his team of village naturalists in Bolikhamxay Province, Laos), and one last term of coursework at his university (in Bangkok, Thailand) - he'll need to register and pay in early January, before his field trip. However, the generous support of both the WCN and LA Zoo scholarships have run out, leaving Olay in a bit of a financial pickle. We need to raise $2,975 for him -$1,975 for his last field trip, and $1,000 toward his final tuition and school fees. Can you help?
I don't ask this lightly, since many of you have recently made generous donations to the conservation work of the SWG. But Olay is something special; biologist Rob Timmins called him the best field man he's worked with in his 20 years of wildlife surveys in Laos and Vietnam. And we need Olay to finish his studies ASAP - so he can get to work leading saola conservation projects in Laos!
Any support you give to Olay will go via GoFundMe to our financial partner, the non-profit Global Wildlife Conservation, so should be tax deductible. Using GoFundMe will allow all of us to readily track progress toward the funding goal for completetion of Olay's education.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me ([email redacted]).
With sincere thanks, and best wishes to all in 2016,
Bill Robichaud, on behalf of the SWG
