This page is to acknowledge that the entire WC3 community is standing behind Marcus "ThorZaIN" Eklöf. While it won't give him the accolade he should have deserved, maybe it can raise awareness that the community is behind him; that we support him, and stop this from happening to anyone in the future. Especially at an offline major event, this seems like the least we can do as a community.
The 750 USD goal would be the difference in prize money he would have earned from coming top 8 to top 4 (1250$ for top 8, 2000$ for top 4).
This page will be up for two weeks (ending March 8th, 2020) , and DuSt Gaming will fund the difference of 750$ when the page is closed.
Backstory:
During the DreamHack Anaheim 2020 Open cup. ThorZaIN worked his way into the Round of 8 quarterfinals where he would be playing against Moon; one of the best players in the world and a favorite to take the entire championship.
During the very intense best of 3 series, with a score of 1-1 and game 3 being played on Terenas Stand, ThorZaIN was poised and in a position to take the third map, with an expo solidified and a huge army ready to siege a late night elf expansion with towers. This would advance himself into the Semi finals and become the biggest upset of the tournament, and one of the biggest achievements of his WC3 career.
However, the hype of the crowd and ultimately all of the buzz was ruined by a disconnect in the game, a bug that Blizzard had failed to fix before the start of this tournament. Resulting in a rematch.
In the following rematch, with Marcus ahead again with a 615 mana MK, yet another disconnect prompted a 2nd rematch of the series. It would be in this 5th game of the series, and 3rd attempt on the map, where Moon was able to defeat him and move forward into the RO4 Semi finals.
