LIFE CHANGING SURGERY FOR ELLEN WOODLEY
Donation protected
Ellen Woodley is a dedicated gymnastics coach. Her love for fitness began at a young age as a high school and collegiate gymnast and swimmer. Later in life, she began her journey to become a personal trainer and competitive body builder and excelled in those fields. Before body building, Ellen served in the United States Navy for 10 years as an air traffic controller. After hanging up her boots, she went back to the competitive gymnastics world. She continues to dedicate her life to coaching gymnastics and spends day in and day out preparing our children to compete at AAU and USAG levels.
Beginning in 2018, Ellen began having significant hip pain. After many doctor visits, she has been told that she no longer has any cartilage left that cushions the bones in the hip socket. Her doctors have advised her that at this point, the only alternative is a total hip replacement surgery. The pain gradually progressed into a limp and at times she has the inability to walk unassisted.
In order to gain some relief, she will have to pay for the hip replacement surgery completely out of pocket since she is unable to afford the high cost of health insurance. Ellen coaches, not for the financial compensation but for her passion of coaching gymnastics and the love for her gymnasts. Ellen is so selfless and dedicated to our children that leaving her job and our girls is not an option. She never misses a day of work, despite the pain that she is experiencing. Additionally, her elderly mother has been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s so Ellen moved out of her home and in with her mother in order to provide the care that she needs.
How many of us have had that one special person in our lives that encouraged us, lifted us up when we were down and gave us an extra push to be better? We are fortunate enough to have that person in our lives! Ellen’s dedication to gymnastics and her girls is admirable. She has always put them first and now, we want to come together to help this deserving woman get some relief from her pain.
