The Mullins' New Habitat

Donation protected
We have been blessed enough to be given the opportunity to become home owners through Habitat for Humanity.  This is a huge opportunity for us to start a journey of financial security, and so, we are asking for help.

Josh works as a teacher in Fairfax, MO.  Alea is staying at home with the young children and is currently homeschooling.  But, we continue to live in this area because of the ministry we do at Calvary Chapel.  Josh serves as Ministry Coordinator, planning events, serving ministry leaders, and maintaining church supplies/cleaning.  He is also on the worship team.  Alea currently teaches Sunday school and helps Josh in his ministry.  We could leave the area and make more money elsewhere.  And honestly, the idea has been tempting over the years.  However, we feel the good to be done in this community and the surrounding communities is great.  We strive to provide that through our ministry, and by serving as a teacher.  And doing so, we have sacrificed our financial well-being.

One might wonder, if we're getting a house from Habitat, why would we ask for more money?  The truth is, the Habitat House isn't free.  It is extremely reduced in price do to not having to pay workers/contractors.  Many materials are donated as well.  We are wanting to add a basement if possible, and we would like to have a strong down payment in an effort to pay for the house as soon as possible.  In other words, like many millenials, we want to find a way of living without the weight of constant debt over us, but also desire to make a difference in the world.  So, we are asking for your gifts.  We are asking for help in something we cannot do on our own.

If you are unable to give, we would love to have you help out at the build site.  This could be anything from swinging hammers to dropping off a cooler of Coke.  Our website, www.aleaandjosh.weebly.com , has info on build times, as well as a blog on the progress.  If none of this is a possibility, we do ask for prayer.  Not so much for finances, but for safety and peace during the build itself.

Thank you all for everything you do.  It is humbling to be receiving so much.  It's a blessing to serve in this community, and we hope to be a blessing, too.
