Kauma Scholars Feeding Project
Donation protected
We are a group of volunteers working together to bring a healthy nutritious snack to 360 hungry children at the Kauma Scholars Private School located in Lilongwe, Malawi. Most of the students come to school hungry because their parents have very little resources. Every Tuesday our volunteers go out to Kauma market to purchase the food. This way we not only support the children but also the community they come from. Then, every Wednesday we deliver the food to excited children! We use this opportunity to teach the children the importance of hygiene, variety of nutritious fruits and vegetables available to them locally, and of course a bit of English! On average we spend $165 a month to feed the children once a week a snack consisting of two food items such as egg and cucumber or mango and banana. That is less than 50 cents per child a month! We are now looking at different options to make our project sustainable. One of the logical solutions we see is to assist the school with planting their own garden. Please help us make it a reality !
