Help Support My Mom After Fire

It’s devastating to put into words, but our family home—along with so many others in the Pacific Palisades community—is gone. My parents bought the house in 1993, back when the Palisades was more affordable.

As a preschool teacher, my mom has always poured her heart into helping others, but rising costs made it impossible for her to stay in the home she worked so hard to build. Selling it felt unthinkable—it wasn’t just a house; it was our home.

Determined to help her hold onto it, our family rallied together. Over the past two years, we poured everything we had into renovating the house so she could rent it out and keep it in the family. It became a true labor of love, with aunties, uncles, cousins, and friends stepping in to lend their time, skills, money, and support. Every nail, coat of paint, and repaired wall held the hope that this house could secure my mom’s future.

This past December, after years of hard work and sacrifice, it all paid off. My mom found a tenant and could finally breathe a sigh of relief—financial stability was finally within reach, and her dream of retiring as a teacher felt possible. Even more incredible, the tenant paid several months of rent upfront, allowing my mom to pay off outstanding bills, loans, and debt. But just three weeks later, that dream was shattered. A devastating fire destroyed everything—the house, the years of love and effort poured into it—and now my mom is left with the burden of paying back the rent money she had so desperately needed and already used.

We are heartbroken. My mom has lost not just her home but also a stable income source that she had worked so hard to achieve. We’re asking for help to pick up the pieces. Anything you can give—whether a donation or simply sharing this story—would mean the world to us.
