Help Kitten Hit by a Car
Donation protected
One week ago today, I was driving down the highway and saw what looked like a kitten that had been run over. As I passed it, I saw its head move, so I pulled over. I opened my door and looked behind my car to see if it was alive. He really looked dead. I got out to go and look, and he was alive, but he couldn’t move his body. I reached down to pick him up and he hissed at me, which I kind of loved. My fellow cat people will understand that. I didn’t realize at the time that the moment I picked him up and put him in my car, whether he lived or died was going to be my decision.
I took him to the emergency vet where they took x-rays and found that he had two broken legs and a broken pelvis. They said that they weren’t able to do the procedure and suggested that I reach out to the Humane Society. So, I went there and they said because of all the complications, he would probably be put down. I reached out to another veterinarian. They said that they could do the procedure. It would be extremely expensive, but the other option would be to put him down. I would have to pay an enormous amount of money or put this cat down that I just met just because he had broken legs.
I decided that I had no idea how I was going to pay for it, but I had to help him. I would figure out how to pay for it later. I know people will not understand why I did what I did and would have just had him euthanized. But as a born and bred cat lady and someone that’s been saving animals her entire life, that just wasn’t an option for me.
The surgery plus x-rays cost over $8,000. Any amount donated to help cover the cost is very very appreciated.
Thank you so much,
