2020 Help Grayson Save the Topsail Sea Turtles

Hi, my name is Grayson Houston-Henderson, and I am raising money for the Karen Beasley Sea Turtle Rescue and Rehabilitation Center located in Topsail Island, North Carolina.
This is the 9th year that I have raised money for the hospital. In the past 8 years, I have raised over $21,900 for the hospital. My goal this year is to raise a minimum of $4,500 to bring my total to $26,406.
My passion for saving the sea turtles first began when I was four years old and I first experienced the hatching of baby sea turtles on Topsail Island and witnessed the start of their challenging journey to the sea.
You might ask--how do I raise this money? I spend my Saturday & Sunday mornings standing outside of local businesses in Paris, France, Washington, DC, and Topsail Island, NC asking for donations to support my passion for Saving the Topsail Island Sea Turtles. To better explain the challenges faced by the turtles, I have made educational poster boards with pictures, fact sheets, and statistical information which I share with people as they enter/exit the respective stores. I have also been very fortunate to have my family and friends Make donations utilizing my “Go Fund Me” web site.
As we have all witnessed for the past several months, the world has been devastated both physically and financially as a result of COVID-19. While this pandemic has halted everyday life as we know it, organizations such as the Karen Beasley Sea Turtle Rescue and Rehabilitation center must continue to engage in everyday functions that cost money. Under normal circumstances, the sea turtle hospital is able to welcome visitors into the hospital and those visitors pay an admission fee which aids in the upkeep of the hospital and pays for the medical care of the injured and sick sea turtles. In addition, many of these visitors make donations and buy from the gift shop which is another form of income for the hospital. During this crisis, the hospital has lost all of these sources of income and they have had to depend on savings to keep the hospital running. It is for these reasons donations from people like you are so important and will especially benefit the hospital during this difficult time. Saving sea turtles has been a passion of mine since I saw the hatching of a sea turtle nest in 2011 when I was 4 years old. This hospital is such an important place for the sea turtles and for me, I hope that you can help me continue the fight for these magnificent creatures.
