Family update 10/21/24:

Dear family and friends,
We wanted to thank everyone for the continued love and support Olivia and our family have received throughout this last year. It has been truly remarkable and we are very grateful for all the prayers and support we have received. We could have not made it this far without you. This year has been full of very scary and unimaginable times. We are still in disbelief that this has happened to our lovely healthy daughter. We continue to take it one day at a time and focus all of our energy available on healing Olivia. All of your love, support and prayers have provided us with continued hope and the ability to focus our efforts on Olivia’s recovery. Thank you, to each and every one of you, for everything you have done.
On October 17th, the one-year mark from Olivia’s accident occurred. It was met with very conflicting and confusing emotions, as you could expect. Livy has been through so much and has had many ups and downs throughout the year. We are very proud of her strength and determination. For anyone that knows Olivia, knows that she always overcomes challenges once she puts her mind to it.
Olivia had been cancer free after the initial treatment in September of last year, but due to the need to stop ongoing treatments after the injury occurred, the cancer returned this year. As such, Olivia had to repeat the initial treatment plan and continue the long-term treatment plan moving forward. During that time, she was simultaneously working on recovering from her brain injury with ongoing therapies. We are thrilled to share the wonderful news that she is once again cancer-free following her recent tests and is now ready to enter the final maintenance phase of her treatment. This stage of treatment lasts longer, but it offers a chance for healing and allows patients to feel better in the process. We are praying and hoping that this is the case, and it will assist Olivia in much more healing in the coming year.
Throughout this process, we feel that God has been helping Livy and we are trying to be as patient as possible as we wait for his timing. All of your prayers and messages have been received and we cannot even express how much of a blessing they have been to us. On our hardest days, we have received messages that Olivia will be OK, which has uplifted us and provided much needed hope. Despite all of the hard times, we've been overwhelmed by the kindness of others and the unexpected opportunities that have emerged for Olivia's healing journey. This all seems to be part of God’s plan, as hard as it is to understand. Olivia still has a lot of recovery and healing to do from the brain injury and we continue to take it day by day. However, the hope we have and have received through your generosity and love has been truly life saving for us and Olivia. We truly appreciate everything that has been done for Olivia and our family. We are praying for a big 2025 of miraculous healing for Livy, and continue to focus all of our energy on her path to healing.
With love and gratitude,
Scott, Leslie, Livy, Addy and Everett

Family update 5/13/24:

We wanted to give you an update on Olivia's progress and express our deepest gratitude for your unwavering support. Your kindness, love, prayers, generosity, family meals and financial contributions have been instrumental in Olivia's journey, and we cannot thank you enough.

In March, we received the heartbreaking news that Olivia's cancer had returned. After spending 34 days in the hospital, Olivia is now in remission and responding well to treatments. Her strength and determination have been truly inspiring.

The financial support we have received has been crucial in covering ongoing medical expenses and rehabilitation costs. Your hugs, texts, words of encouragement and prayers have been a source of strength for us during the difficult days.

We look forward the day when we can pay forward the support and kindness that has been shown to us. Thank you once again for standing by Olivia and keeping our family strong.

-Leslie, Scott, Olivia, Adeline and Everett

Family update:

Family, friends, and community have been our lifeline and saving grace these last few months. We have been using the financial support for ongoing medical costs, covering treatments like hyperbaric oxygen chambers, IV immune support, and additional supplies for her care and rehabilitation. Caregivers and in-home nursing is not covered with private insurance so we have been directing funds towards that, as well. Some of the larger things we need to do are purchase a handicap accessible vehicle and make our home more handicap accessible (enlarge at least one bathroom, widen doorways, install ramps, etc.). We have been in contact with the best specialists in the country for Olivia to provide her with the best possible care. The money from this GoFundMe is helping to defray some of the travel costs and expenses involved with these trips.
Thank you so much for your continued prayers and support. We couldn't be more grateful!
-Leslie and Scott

Original post 11/18/23:

Dear family and friends,

As some of you may already know, our amazing niece Olivia was diagnosed with leukemia on September 9th, 2023, just 2 months before her 10th birthday. While undergoing her normal course of chemotherapy, Olivia has suffered some significant complications. Leslie, Scott, and the Rubeck family are facing ongoing, unexpected, and substantial medical costs.

On October 17th, while at the hospital receiving treatment, Olivia suffered two cardiac arrests that resulted in a brain injury, and spent a week on a ventilator in the ICU. Now stable and off the ventilator, Olivia is at the beginning of a long road of healing, including the rehabilitation of movement and communication, and the ongoing treatment of her cancer diagnosis. At this critical juncture, Olivia needs additional therapies that are not covered by insurance, and the family needs medical transportation and other vital equipment.

Anyone who knows Olivia, knows how kind, smart and caring she is. She is also strong and resilient, and we know she can make it through this. Friends and family have been asking how to support and we’re so grateful. Right now, the best way to support Olivia is by helping Leslie and Scott endure the ongoing medical costs. Anything raised over the goal will go toward getting Olivia what she needs to recover. We hope you can rally with us to support Olivia and family during this difficult time

Thank you so much for your continued support, your prayers, and your love.

With gratitude,
Karla & Stephanie

Thank you note from the Rubeck family:

Hello everyone,

We wanted to let everyone know how much we appreciate and are in awe of the support and love we have received for Olivia and our family. We are absolutely blown away by the outpouring of kindness. It has truly warmed our hearts and we feel so very blessed and loved.

The last few months have been extremely difficult and something we could have never anticipated. It has been our worst nightmare and we honestly do not think we could have made it through without all the love and support. From prayers, messages, contributions, meals, gifts for Olivia, playdates for Addy and Everett, dog walks, work on fundraisers, your valuable time and effort and much, much more. It has all helped us tremendously to continue to move through this and given us hope to keep moving forward. We have focused all of our energy on finding ways that will help Olivia recover. We apologize for any delays or or limited responses from us through this process as we are still working on wrapping our minds around everything that has happened. Please know that we are very thankful and forever grateful. We do not know how we can repay or thank you everyone properly for all the support and love. There aren't words that can properly express our thankfulness and gratitude to each and every one of you.

Olivia continues to get healthier and is making improvements every day. We know it will be a long road to recovery and will take time. Olivia has been so resilient and strong throughout this process and we could not be more proud of her. We feel that God has given us a strong path for Olivia's recovery and we are so thankful for the opportunity to follow that path. We are continuing to pursue multiple therapies that will provide Olivia the recovery she needs and deserves.

Thank you so much for all the love and support. It is truly incredible and we cannot thank everyone enough.
