My fight for independence.

I am disabled from birth and grew up in Bavaria, Germany. From first grade on my teachers in Germany said that I wouldn't get far in school. They told me straightforward that I would never make it beyond 9th grade. Eventually, I was so upset that my parents and I decided that I should attend a High School in the United States. And guess what? After three years, I graduated. In the picture above you can see me in my finest hour.
An I was admitted to an American University in Germany. So I came back to my country -
with a purpose.
I want to study social sciences and public affairs so that one day I will be able to empower other disabled people to claim their independence and lives. Because from my very own experience, I know that disabled persons in Germany are taken care of by the state, but they are patronized and discouraged to become self-reliant.
Usually, universities in Germany are free of charge. But German universities refuse to accept me, which is why I have to attend an American university and pay tuition. Besides the tuition, I also have to pay assistants who help me with my disability.
It is my greatest wish to get a degree in order to proof that the German schooling system is disadvantaging disabled students. Please help me make my point and make this place a little better.
