Jamie's Medical Fund!

Hello!

My name is Kari Nakken, and I'm Jamie Ward's girlfriend. Jamie is the greatest, sweetest, most talented person I've ever known, and he's had a very hard road getting to where he is now.

For those of you who don't know, Jamie has been diagnosed with cancer in his chest around his left lung. The cancer that he has is called a Pleomorphic Lipo-sarcoma. This type of sarcoma is the rarest, and can be one of the most aggressive. It is very large, as in it's been described as a rugby ball. It causes him to have a hard time talking, as it presses on a nerve that controls his vocal chords, and it causes him difficulty breathing. Luckily, he's been getting amazing care here at the BC Cancer Agency. He is almost done his first round of chemotherapy! He goes home soon for a few weeks before chemo starts again. He will most likely be going monthly for chemo treatments for up to 5 months, where they will then assess his condition and see if he will need radiation therapy (likely), or surgery (slightly less likely). The doctors here are hesitantly confident that he will make it through this!

We actually hadn't thought at all about starting a GoFundMe for this, but we've had an overwhelming (and seriously tear-inducing!) amount of friends and coworkers and family asking how they can help.

While we live in the great country of Canada, most of his medical costs are covered, so what we would use any donations for would be helping extra costs from his condition, such as travel costs, special equipment, and lost wages if it turns out he's not well enough to continue during/after chemotherapy, or if I have to stay home to care for Jamie.

This is a long process, and it will be very hard. Any amount of money or love is appreciated of course! Jamie and I are so humbled by how much all of you want to help!

I can't say that I'm surprised that this wonderful person has so many dedicated people who love him so much, but I can tell you that we are so grateful that you are here for us!

One last thing, while any amount helps, if there is any amount of donations left over after Jamie's treatment, we will donate that to the BC Cancer Foundation.

Thank you all so so so much!
