Second Kidney Transplant
Donation protected
My name is Teresa Anderton. I’m raising money for a second kidney transplant. My first one was a kidney pancreas which I got in 1998 at UAB. If you need to verify you can call the kidney pancreas transplant clinic at UAB.
My transplanted kidney has a lot of damage. My function is 5.2. I had a fistula put in 2 weeks ago for hemo dialysis.
My original kidneys failed from 18 years of diabetes. I was diagnosed with it at age 13. I went in dialysis when I was 26 and received my transplant when I was 30 by Dr. Carlton Young. That was on Feb. 22, 1998. I’ve not taken an insulin shot in 21 years and 4 months because of the pancreas transplant.
I need help with gas back and fourth to dialysis and UAB. It’s been quite expensive my whole life, but I got divorced 12 years ago and solely depend on Medicare. Medicare covers everything but 20%. I’m 51 and not old enough to get a secondary insurance. I can’t till I’m 65. My co pay for the transplant is $1200. I have to have this when I check in. I’ve got 25 more pounds to loose and I’ll get a transplant. I’ve been working hard on watching what I eat.
I really appreciate you reading my story. I’m excited about getting transplanted again and making the best of the rest of my years.
Im one of Gods miracles and I know He has a plan for me even if it’s just reading my story. I’ve had many surgeries in my lifetime. I’ve been in respiratory arrest and woke up with the UAB pastor holding my hand. He said God has you here for a reason. I’ve been anointed, baptized and saved. That’s the reason I’m still here and I have a whole lotta faith.
Thank you so much for reading my story and helping me meet my goal.
Sincerely
Teresa Anderton
