My name is Miriam/Mia Rodriguez, and I am 18 years old. I’m looking to raise money for a 6-month discipleship training school called Fire & Fragrance. It is the one of many YWAM programs that I have felt strongly called to attend in January. Ever since I was young, the stories and testimonies I’d hear from missionaries would make my heart light up. On a day to day basis, I’ve had a true passion for helping people and speaking support and love into their lives, which always translates to the love of Jesus. When this opportunity was given to me, it was very clear that God had been working for this to happen for me. For as long as I can remember, I have adored worship as well. I became a worship leader for my youth group in my early teen years, and I’ve loved every second of learning how to truly praise God without a worry in the world about anything else. When I discovered that this program will also provide tracks (classes) that focus on growing in worship, I was beyond excited. This was an opportunity that was meant for me to take, and God knew it all along.
I never would have thought I’d be called to do a ministry school thousands of miles from where I live. To be completely honest, the thought scared me at first. To be away from my family and loved ones for a long period of time- to be on my own in a completely new place. But, as more events were presented to my life (such as attending college next year), I’ve realized more and more, day by day that this is the time for me to do this. I strongly believe that God has reserved these six months for me, and ultimately, if God wants me to do this, I will do it. I do not want to be the same coming back from this experience. I cannot wait to break off old habits, walk in the light of God’s path, and speak truth into people all around me, no matter where I am. I couldn’t be more grateful to whoever chooses to support me and my journey.
