As a mother of three and dog lover, my biggest fear became a reality today as I got the call at work that my three year old daughter was bitten by a dog (IT WAS NOT ONE OF OUR DOGS) but I dropped EVERYTHING, canceled my clients for the remainder of the day and rushed to the hospital. This broke me, I was not prepared for how serious this dog bite was, and it is the icing on the cake to the current tragedies our family is facing. I am currently the only able bodied guardian in Scarlett, and her brothers Jaden (age 9) Carver (5 months); and this breaks my heart knowing I wasn’t there to protect her. This incident has truly traumatized my daughter, and I do not know how my little family will get through this without help. This has truly changed our lives forever especially for my sweet Scarlett.
Scarlett was transferred from Midcoast hospital almost immediately to Maine medical center today (3/14/24) to see a plastic surgeon due to the severity of her bite. After 20 plus stitches and an endless hospital visit we have a short yet long road to recovery. We are blessed to be home, but her adjusting has not been easy at all. This truly has changed the whole demeanor of my sweet girl and it absolutely breaks my heart. I currently am not a working due to the incident, I will be spending my time healing with Scarlett supporting her in anyway I can. We face a very long road of specialist and plastic surgeon visits in Portland, our first appointment being Wednesday March 27th, and I’m praying for good news. Due to being out of work so many things are falling behind with our bills and I just want to continue to provide a stable home environment for my beautiful children as Scarlett heals. There are many unexpected costs that we will be facing in the coming months. She didn’t deserve this, and my children deserve the absolute world; please consider supporting us during this time, we couldn’t be mor me grateful.
