Help Chef Marshall Cole
As most of you know, Marshall sustained a head injury July 4th as the result of a motorbike accident. He was in Trauma ICU for 5 days with a fractured skull and a severe brain hemorrhage. His frontal lobe was heavily bruised with a lot of blood build up causing him to lose temporary hearing in his left ear, loss of taste and smell, and affecting his cognitive functions ie: concentration, reading/writing, multitasking, organizing, emotions, mood etc.. He then was moved to bed rest the following week with little to no activity, sleeping 20+ hours a day, and was in a significant amount of pain. The blood in his head should take 3-4 months to break down and go away. When this happens, his headaches and pain should subside, and hopefully he’ll regain his lost senses. The doctors are expecting full recovery within the next 6 months.
Now, a full month later, Marshall has been able to get out of the house 1-2 hours a day before his brain gets over stimulated causing him to require more rest. He will begin therapy and rehabilitation sessions to help regain and strengthen his cognitive functions throughout the next month.
We are asking for funding to help with his continued therapy, check ups and hospital bills as he will remain absent from work until he’s recovered.
Marshall’s work has offered to hold a fundraising event later this month at The Mitchell. We would love all of you to attend. I will keep everyone updated when a date is set.
Marshall is expecting his first child early this November
