At 20 years old, Jacob Travis (pictured in the middle) had his share of hardships. As a child, he endured type 1 diabetes, Addison’s disease, a stroke, sepsis, numerous hospitalizations, and resuscitations. But to reduce Jacob to his hardships would be unfortunate. Because in every one of them he had victory and a testimony. Jacob would much rather talk about video games or joke around than focus on any illness. Even when he looked his weakest and most fragile, he didn’t complain.
Memories of Jacob are happy ones. They are full of love from his family, friends, support and community. He worked in his church sound room and sang in the youth choir. His quick wit meant he was ready to make anyone laugh at a moments notice.
For Jacob, serving others came honestly. The Travis family shared their home, food, time and love with anyone who needed it. From Friday fish frys to Sunday dinners, their home was a community hub. On holidays like Christmas and Thanksgiving, they would make sure people without family had a place to celebrate. They never, ever asked for anything in return.
So now, they need us. The Travis family faces the unimaginable tragedy of burying a son and a brother. We’re asking people to show up for them like they did for us. Please give whatever you can and ask people you know to give too.
During the pandemic, Jacob and his family moved from Colorado to Texas. His family would like to bring him back to Colorado, the place where he made so many happy memories.
Please support his family in bringing him back to the place he loved.
