Support Jon in “EVICTING” Hodgkins Lymphoma

Donation protected
It takes a community to come together….. Meet Jon Stephens and his family, Jon is 49 years old and was recently diagnosed with Hodgkins Lymphoma. This is a rare and treatable blood cancer of the lymphatic system commonly affecting adults. With faith and support we feel good about the prognosis. Jon is full of life, resilient and those who know him can all agree, they've never met anyone quite like him. He is devoted to God, his family and to others. He would help anyone in need and share his story on how Christ lead him out of a broken path. He is extremely talented, hard working, passionate and loyal.

** Hodgkin’s Lymphoma is a rare but treatable form of blood cancer that affects fewer than 200,000 people in the United States. Most of these cases are people 18-35 years of age, and fewer than 3 out of 100,000 people are diagnosed with HL every year.

  • Jon’s story

In the evening of May 9th, Jon started out with fevers, night sweats and wasn’t able to sleep nor get the fever down. He went to the doctors several times where they ran blood work and gave him different antibiotics each time. Despite efforts, nothing would bring down the fever and Jon was becoming more Ill with each passing day. Blood panel results alarmed the doctors to further investigation. Jon was sent to a specialist who suspected cancer after finding a 5cm mass (the size of a golf ball) in his abdomen. During an exploratory surgery a port was put in place for cancer treatments and tissue was sent off for biopsy. On Thursday June 16th biopsy results came back with positive results of Hodgkin’s lymphoma, either stage 3 or 4. The doctor will confirm cancer stage after PET Scan on June 27th.

  • The PET Scan results will determine the course of treatment and the duration to treat and cure.
  • We are hoping to start cancer treatments the beginning of July.
  • Jon is committed to paying forward the support, love, positivity, and generosity he has received.

Cancer does not wait, and neither should we. By donating, you are helping fund the following expenses:

  • Subsidizing Jon’s income as he had to take a step back from his career to undergo treatment and focus solely on getting better; thus going down to one income.
  • Medical expenses that aren’t covered by insurance;
  • Personal & family necessities (food, medical, lodging, transportation, etc.) during this difficult time.

Anything and everything is appreciated, even just a simple share and lots of prayers. Cancer has shown its face, however Jon is the toughest person around and will “EVICT” this cancer by kicking the CAN out of Cancer!

I am Megan Salazar, Jon and Dena’s niece and I have organized this campaign to ease the financial burden that cancer has and will continue to create for the Stephens’ family. If you would like to contribute to easing Jon and Dena’s financial burden, any donations via gofundme, in person or you can do a bank deposit at Community National Bank and Trust of Warsaw, MO. ICO:  Jonathan and Dena Stephens will be greatly appreciated. All funds raised will go directly to the Stephens family.
