In memory of my friend Callum

Noah’s words

Hello, my name is Noah, I am 10 years old and I will be trying to raise money in memory of my friend Callum (main page picture) who sadly died last year due to a brain tumour. I will be raising money for two charities and the money will be equally divided between them. The charities I will be raising money for are Shooting Star Children's Hospice (where he spent time before he died) and the Brain Tumour Charity.

To raise money in his honour I will be doing the challenge ‘Noah’s 4 in 2024’ which is me hiking;

Scafell Pike - the highest peak in England, 978m, aiming for early June
Ben Nevis – the highest peak in Scotland, 1345m, aiming for late June
Snowdon (Yr Wyddfa) – the highest peak in Wales, 1085m, aiming for mid-July
The Brocken – The highest peak in Northern Germany and the Harz, 1142m, aiming for mid-August

Me on my first training walk

The reason I have chosen the mountains is because hiking them will be long, hard, and tiring but also fun and a good challenge for me to overcome. Another reason is that I hope I will feel proud when I reach the summit, and I hope that my achievement will make Callum happy.

At the end of the challenge I will also be cutting off my hair to donate to children with cancer.

My friendship with Callum was a great one and he taught me a lot about Maths. The kid was a human calculator, and when we were doing Year 3 target ‘Your maths’ he was doing Year 5! Whenever I was struggling in Maths, I could always look to him for help and this challenge is my way of thanking him for all the stuff he taught me.

Callum was also a really good gymnast and when I was learning how to do forwards roll, he was doing much more. He helped me try to do a handstand, but it was just out of my reach.

Callum was fun and friendly and was just an awesome-to-be-around guy. We both liked Pokémon, playing Mario Kart and art. I came around to his house and we also played with these really strong magnets, he taught me how to build a pyramid from them. At school he was a great friend to all, and we would play games together, sometimes it was Duck, Duck, Goose, or Tag or something completely different. I am really sad he is gone and we miss his cool facts, maths brains and his friendship.

Please donate some money to charity to help with all the work they do.

His Daddy’s words.

Hi, I am Phil, Noah’s Dad. As you can imagine we are incredibly proud of him for coming up with this challenge in honour of his friend Callum’s memory and he is very excited to get started. We will naturally be supporting him every step of the way and making sure he stays safe and healthy throughout.

For transparency, as GoFundMe only allows you to raise money for one charity at a time we will be taking receipt of the money directly and will then be splitting it in full on a 50 / 50 split with the two chosen charities.

We will be posting updates of the challenge on Instagram noahs4in2024 and so please do give Noah's page a follow (I will be administering the page naturally)

Please do give generously to the two wonderful charities in honour of Callum and for Noah’s efforts in his friend’s memory.
