Henry & Nik
Donation protected
Henry and Nik are my friends, and they are homeless. Let's fund them a new life.
Who they are:
Henry attended MIT, is an artist, has four grown daughters, a great smile, used to work in IT, and is a great conversationalist.
Nik loves birds, is an avid diarist, has a slight southern twang if you listen closely, and wants to be a lawyer.
They are best friends. Henry told me, "I had my share of demons, then I met Nik. I knew I wanted to be better, that I could love myself again...because you can't give what you don't have." Nik says of Henry, "no one protected me before he did." They want to get married.
What we'll do:
Let's raise enough money to get them a small apartment before the winter comes, some tools so Henry can go back to work in IT (and start making art again), and maybe a beat up car. They have big plans and can do the rest.
What you get:
Everyone who donates $250+ gets original artwork by Henry. Plus, you'll feel good for doing the right thing.
What you might be asking:
Are they on drugs or alcohol?
- No. However, sometimes it looks like they are. You would too if you slept on the ground (shelters can be dangerous) and got about 3 hours of sleep a night.
Why don't they just get a job?
-"Give away everything you own, live outside for a year, and don't take showers. Then try to get a job. It's pretty tough," says Henry (while laughing).
So let's do it. How often do you get to fund a new life for someone? Let's give Henry and Nik a shot.
