I am helping raise money for one of my best friends and sorority sisters, Suzy, and her family during this tough time. On March 30th 2020, Suzy was diagnosed with Stage 2 Hodgkin's Lymphoma and has since started chemotherapy. Since her diagnosis, she has had two ambulance/ER visits, and along with her chemotherapy, the medical bills are starting to pile up, especially during tough times like these.
Estoy ayudando a recaudar dinero para una de mis mejores amigas, Suzy, y su familia durante este tiempo difícil. El 30 de Marzo, Suzy fue diagnosticada con linfoma de hodgkin en etapa 2 y desde entonces a empezado quimoterapia. Desde su diagnóstico, ha tenido dos visitas de ambulancia/sala de emergencias, y junto con su quimioterapia, los gastos médicos han comenzado a acumularse, especialmente en tiempos difíciles como estos.
Suzy is 20 years old and a third year pre-med student studying Human Development at UC Davis. Her goal is to one day be a pediatrician to support underrepresented kids and families in her hometown receive the medical care they need. For now, due to these unprecedented circumstances, she has decided to take some time off from school.
Suzy tiene 20 años y es una estudiante de pre-medicina en su tercer año que estudia Desarrollo Humano en UC Davis. Su objetivo es algún día ser pediatra para ayudar a los niños y familias de bajos recursos en su ciudad a recibir la atención médica que necesitan. Por ahora, debido a estas circunstancias sin precedentes, ella ha decidido tomar un tiempo fuera de la escuela.
Suzy comes from a humble Mexican family of 6, two younger sisters, an older brother, and their parents, from the Central Valley. She is one of the kindest, most selfless people I have had the pleasure of meeting. She has a contagious laugh and smile and is always making people laugh with her jokes and sarcasm. Even now, while enduring the emotional, mental, and financial hardships of chemotherapy, we are able to see her resiliency. Her optimism, bright spirit, and determination shines through the darkness she and her loved ones currently face. She has been such an incredible support system the last two and a half years I have known her, so I want to help her now. Though we face our own issues during this current time, if you are able to help, even the slightest bit, we would appreciate it. She will beat this and she will come back stronger than ever. #TeamSuzy
Suzy proviene de una humilde familia Mexicana de 6, sus padres, dos hermanas menores, y un hermano mayor, del Valle Central. Ella es una de las personas más amables y generosas que he tenido el placer de conocer. Ella tiene una risa y una sonrisa contagiosas y siempre hace reír a la gente con sus bromas y sarcasmo. Incluso ahora, durante las dificultades emocionales, mentales y financieras de la quimioterapia, podemos ver su resiliencia. Su optimismo, espíritu brillante y determinación brillan en la oscuridad que ella y sus seres queridos enfrentan ahora. Ella ha sido un sistema de apoyo increíble en los últimos dos años y medio que la conozco, así que quiero ayudarla ahora. Aunque enfrentamos nuestros propios problemas durante este tiempo, si pueden ayudar, aunque sea un poco, se lo agradeceríamos. Ella vencerá esto y volverá más fuerte que nunca.
