Help Emily B Klueh's Battle Against Metastatic Breast Cancer

Hello Family and Friends,
This fundraiser is for our girl, Emily. She has been diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer. A devastating diagnosis that we know she is going to fight. She is a mother to two beautiful babies, Adeline and Hunter, she is a devoted wife to Michael, a daughter, a sister, an aunt, a cousin, a friend, and a therapist to many.
We all know that Emily was a high achieving athlete as an NCAA champion and a world class open water/endurance swimmer. We know she can do hard things. We know she will rise above this but no different than achieving success as an athlete it takes support, as a mother it takes a village, fighting cancer requires love, support, and prayers. She needs us. Since her retirement from sport she has dedicated her life to helping others. Emily is a licensed mental health and sport performance clinician. She has worked tirelessly in becoming licensed in multiple states, to provide care to others. She has traveled the world supporting the best. Teaching others that it is ok to not be ok all the time. She has helped hundreds of athletes and young adults not only achieve success in their field of play but has helped them take ownership of their lives and learn how to ride the waves life throws. Emily previously worked in the athletic department at her alma mater the University of Michigan. She worked with athletes from all sports, consulting with coaches and administrators, conducting team sessions, and teaching staff and others how to save lives through their words and actions for those struggling with mental health concerns. She now works for USA Swimming as the first clinician hired within a National Governing Body to create a psychological services program. The purpose of this program is to support athletes representing the United States along the continuum of mental health. She loves her job and her work to destigmatize the need for mental health support among athletes.
In November of this year, she noticed changes in her breast. She contacted her doctor and was scheduled for a mammogram and ultrasound. At only 38, she would not have normally been referred for a mammogram for another two years. Through these tests the doctors found eight masses in her chest and at least three lymph nodes suspicious of cancer. She then underwent biopsies of one of the masses and one of the lymph nodes which confirmed the devastating news that they were positive for invasive ductal carcinoma. Due to the positive findings in the lymph nodes, a PET scan was ordered. The doctors are now concerned the cancer has spread to the lining of her lungs. A biopsy of this area is scheduled for December 6th. With this news, the need for support has grown even greater. We are not only providing ways for people to assist with financial needs but also asking for love, thoughts, and prayers as we await the results of this test.
This is where your support is needed. We know this journey will be long. Emily and Michael will face financial burdens. They will experience unexpected medical bills and potential travel and accommodation needs for treatment. Emily and Michael feel passionate about keeping Adeline and Hunter’s lives as normal as possible. Other ways these funds will be utilized would be for groceries, meals, cleaning, and activities for the kids.
Adding to the challenges they face, Michael will be leaving for Charlotte to finish his education. She is incredibly supportive of this move and decision as she knows the hard work and dedication Michael has had for his career. These funds will also be utilized to help Michael travel home to be with family. Keeping this family together even when they are apart is one of their highest priorities while Emily undergoes treatment. This was not part of the original plan. They were all moving to Charlotte together. Bringing Michael home at times will help significantly as their family moves through these unchartered waters.
We greatly appreciate your prayers, your kindness, and any assistance you feel you would like to contribute. If you can't donate at this time, a message of support for Emily, and sharing this page with your family and friends would be amazing. We will keep you updated on Emily’s journey.
All the love,
