4th Annual Ann Moyna Memorial Fundraiser

Donation protected

A huge thank you to everyone who contributed to the Ann Moyna Foundation Fundraiser in 2022, 2023 and 2024. Your generous donations funded $20,000 in scholarships each year to students at Southeast Polk Schools, Central DeWitt Community School, Central Community School in Elkader along with charitable contributions to the Southeast Polk Schools, Iowa Court Reporters, and several other local organizations.

We're excited to do it again in 2025 with the 4th Annual Ann Moyna Memorial Fundraiser. It will again be hosted in Altoona starting with a golf outing on Friday, May 2, 2025 at Terrace Hills Golf Course, followed by an after-party at Brightside Aleworks. Saturday, May 3rd will be an afternoon of fun at Fireside Grille with a bags tournament, silent auction, live music, and plenty of time to socialize.

Those interested can make donations to this page or attend any of the events on May 2 and 3. For more information visit www.annmoyna.com or see the Facebook event here: https://www.facebook.com/share/18a7nLobG4/

Ann's Story:

Ann and Steve Moyna have been a legacy in Altoona for years. Since moving here in 1992, the Moynas have been finding ways to give back and bring the community of Altoona together. With their outgoing personalities and enthusiasm for life, their accomplishments even earned them Altoona’s Outstanding Citizens of the Year award in 2019. They have always been known to help whenever they’re asked, organize whatever they can, and rarely say no to contributing to a worthy cause.

We have had the privilege of knowing the Moynas since the day we moved to Plumwood Court in 2018. They were the first to welcome us and, of course, the first to invite us to a good party. We knew immediately they were remarkable people who knew how to have a good time and who genuinely cared about everyone they knew. Little did we know that over the course of the next 3 years they would become some of our closest friends.

Unfortunately, in May of 2021, we lost Ann, too soon and too suddenly, due to complications with ovarian cancer. Along with dozens of family members and hundreds of Altoona residents, we mourned the loss of her generous and passionate soul.

Ann was a lot of things to many people. A loving and dedicated mother to Connor and Claire. And as Steve would say, “a tolerant wife.” She was the party planner of the cul-de-sac and was always admired by her fellow Plumwoodies. Ann was a freelance court reporter, running her own business as a partner with Petersen Court Reporters of Des Moines. She was a leader and an organizer, serving on several committees with their church, SS John & Paul of Altoona. She also served the community of Altoona on the Planning and Zoning Board, the Lions Club, and Altoona Palooza.

Steve has been known to make a few contributions to the family and the community as well. As the Vice President of Business Development at Elder Corporation for more than 16 years, Steve has established numerous business and personal connections with people, not just in Altoona, but all around the state of Iowa. Thanks to these relationships, Steve and Ann were always finding ways to serve, show generosity, and just be welcoming to all those they encountered.

In the spirit of Ann and her generosity we wanted to find a way give back to the community. In conjunction with the annual Ann Moyna Memorial Fundraiser, the funds raised through this GoFundMe page will be used to establish scholarships that will be awarded annually to worthy Southeast Polk, Central DeWitt, and Central Community school recipients in Ann’s name.

Whether you had the privilege of calling Ann a friend, a family member, or simply knew her by name, we hope you will consider contributing to this worthy cause.
