Room for Luke

We are Friends of Luke, working together with the DeFilippo family.  We are raising funds to make improvements, and accommodations to  Luke's home that will meet his growing needs. 
     Luke was born with an inoperable brain tumor, in 2002.  When he was diagnosed , in 2003, his family was told that he would not live more than two months to two years.   "So for the past 15 years  we have been living day to day.  God has been good, and given us so many years with Luke." 
    Luke has a good quality of life. His tumor has stayed stable for several years. He goes to a school for children with special needs.  He receives most of his Therapy at school.  Recently we have begun intensive, in home behavior  therapy as a way to help him communicate with people he spends time with.     
    Luke is a happy very active child.  He requires constant care and attention.  Our home has become somewhat of an obstacle in caring for him.  Our dream is to add an addition to the house that would open up the kitchen to a living/play space for Luke and Family.  We would also like to move the laundry up from the cellar, and put in a second, handicap accessible bathroom. 
    Because of Luke's medical circumstances, his health has always been unpredictable.  So Mom has taken on the role of full time, at home , care giver.  We need help from friends, family and community to make this dream become real.
