HISTORY:
Life was perfect! There was not one day that went by that we didn't say I love you to each other and say how grateful we were for our life. It really was perfect. On August 8, 2007 everything changed. Mark was on his way to work and was involved in an auto accident. Mark was asleep in the back seat of his truck while his coworker was driving. The driver fell asleep. As the truck rolled multiple times Mark was ejected. He suffered a broken neck at the C4/5/6 levels, broken pelvis, collapsed lung. I was told by the doctor "IF" he survived he would never walk again and most likely would need a ventilator. In the immediate weeks after the accident he battled multiple life threating complications (unstable blood pressure, dropping heart rate, pneumonia & a series of infections) as one hurdle would be cleared it always seemed another would arise. On top of this Keleigh was 8 1/2 months pregnant trying to balance her time in the hospital ICU with her husband and with her two little girls, who desperately missed their Daddy, and she couldn't reassure them he was going to be ok because the Doctors and nurses could only tell her they are doing what they could. Finally after the longest two weeks he finally regained conciousnes and was stable enough to have neck surgery. Then things started moving in the right direction. After 7 weeks in ICU he was transfered to Loma Linda Rehabilition. After 6 weeks in Loma Linda he was finally released to come home (Nov. 20, 2007). Since he still had his halo on rehab was restricted and extremely minimal so he came home in a gurney. Now came the challange of being a full time mother of 3 daughters (one infant) and full time caregiver for her husband. In February 2008 (6 1/2 months later) he finally had his halo removed and with his determination and her strength we worked very hard and he was finally able to sit in a wheelchair without passing out! The progress Mark has made is unbelievable. He's got the stength, determination and desire to get better! Our sole income is his SSI which after paying rent leaves us with about $300.00 a month. So in one year the credit he worked for over 10 years to build was wiped out by us filing bankruptcy to help us with covering medical costs. Ultimately the most important thing is that our girls are happy and anyone who sees them agrees that they are! Our Lily, who was born in the middle of the worst and darkest time of our lives is the happiest baby and has a way of making everything all better sometimes! In spite of everything there still is not a day that goes by that thety don't say I love you to each other and say how thankful they are for their lives, for better or worse!
CURRENT SITUATION: They are being evicted from their rental home in Riverside that they have been living in for the past seven years. Unfortunately, their income ratio is not enough for anyone to rent to them even with a cosigner, (she has applied for 8 plus rentals in the past 50 days) however, we have a plan in works which would increase their creditability to get them into a new rental. Mark and Keleigh have paid their rent on time for the past seven years and are counting on the return of their security deposit and a good refeerence from the current landlord which will help get them into a home. They must be out by AUGUST 1st, in order to ensure the return of their deposit and reference letter. We would like to raise money to move them into an externded stay for the month of August so they find a place to rent long term. If you could please help in anyway give them a temporary home it would be greatly appreciated.
