Help Kris Kick Cancer

Since March of 2022 our friend and co-worker Kris Shaffer has been battling stage 4 lung cancer that has spread to his bones, brain and other parts of his body. He has never been a smoker, so the diagnosis came as a major surprise after experiencing a nagging cough for several months. For close to a year now he's been taking oral chemotherapy pills and receiving focused radiation at Ohio Health Mansfield all the while maintaining his positive spirit and friendly personality. Recently, Kris' has experienced some setbacks with his health and his care has been transferred to the Jame Cancer Treatment and Research Center in Columbus, Ohio so he can receive the absolute best treatment possible.

Kris has lived in Shelby his entire life, but has been a loved and respected member of the Ashland Comfort Control work family since he got out of the Air Force in 1995. Kris is never one for bringing attention to himself and has continued to show up to work every day during his treatment without a single complaint, but he always put others before himself, whether it's lending a helping hand on a home project, contributing to the United Way or participating in other community projects. Because of this, the entire team at Comfort Control felt it was important to do something to show him how many people love, support and appreciate him while he fights his battle.

We will be holding a benefit on Kris and his wife Kelly's behalf on Saturday April 29, 2023 from 1:00-5:00 p.m. at Willow Hill Farm, 1217 Township Road 1153, Ashland, OH 44805.

This will be a donation-only event (no admission) and we'll have catered food, drinks, baskets, a cornhole tournament, queen of hearts drawing and 50/50. More details are available at the Facebook Event Page.

For those friends and family unable to attend on the day of the event we encourage them to show Kris and Kelly their support by donating to this GoFundMe page. All proceeds from the benefit and this GoFundMe will go to the Shaffers to help cover the expenses associated with Kris' treatment, time missed from work and travel to/from The James.
