Help save Bruce!

Hi, my name is Lauren and I have started this fundraiser to help one of my closest friends, Abigail Cagle, save her

fur baby, Bruce Brown. Bruce is a three-year-old French bulldog and on Tuesday, March 09, 2023, Bruce’s

back legs randomly started to not work and he couldn’t sit up. He started panting extremely hard and

having seizures. He was rushed to Happy Tails Emergency Center in Greensboro,NC and then transferred to

an emergency vet center in Winston Salem,NC to see a neurologist for further evaluation.

At that time, his prognosis was very guarded and he was considered critical. He was diagnosed with disseminated intravascular coagulation (abnormal clots which can lead to massive bleeding in other places) and they started him on Vitamin K and plasma. The doctors currently believe that due to intervertebral disc disease, very common in

French bulldogs, and due to his struggle to stand, he panicked and couldn’t calm himself down which

caused a heat stroke and lead to seizures which lead to his clotting problems. He is on a fentanyl drip and they are giving him dextrose for his blood sugar. Bruce has shown slight improvements since Tuesday and if he remains stable the doctors feel that he may be a candidate for surgery tomorrow (5/12) with a 50 to 60 percent chance of survival after surgery.

Anyone who knows Abigail knows that she is the most giving, loving person in the world. She works two jobs, one as a flight nurse at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Care Air Care Critical Care Transport and as a waitress at the Flying Pig. As hard as she works, these unexpected medical bills are insurmountable, as they would be for most of us. Her three bulldogs are her babies and I am hoping that whoever reads this will find it in their heart to help Abigail help

Bruce get the surgery he needs and help bring him back home. All proceeds will go to Abigail to help cover the growing vet bill for Bruce. I know Abigail will be internally grateful for any help this GoFundMe might bring in.
