Hello, I never thought I would have to start one of these for myself, but due to a recent knee surgery I cannot work. Though I am on the path to recovery since having surgery, I am not able to stand or sit for too long before my knee swells, becomes stiff, and brings increasing pain depending on the duration of said tasks. The month of December is coming to an end fast and I do not have enough money to cover my bills. This is a difficult time for me, but one that I hope will shape up soon.
My knee injury which required surgery was caused while I was active duty infantry in the United States Marine Corps, though I do not know when or how.
I had to go to the hospital after my knee gave out randomly while running, which lead to the orthopedic specialists discovery that I didn’t have an ACL at all. The doctor was baffled as to how I didn’t know I blew out my ACL at least 1-2 years ago (said at around the time I was being seen for the new injury) and it was odd luck that I had actually partially torn my meniscus which had lead me to the hospital visit that revealed my older and more serious injury.
Since that visit I had a couple more before they were set on me having surgery to replace my ACL with a cadaver piece. The surgery went well and I did everything the doctor said to while in post surgery recovery. I have recently started physical therapy to regain the ability to walk and get back the range in motion. Physical therapy is rough but I push myself every day I am there, doing everything that I can to get back to being a normal functioning individual. The worst part is working on the range in motion, a very painful part of the therapy.
I will be incredibly thankful for any help that I receive, no matter how much it is, anything will put me ahead of where I am at right now.
I would like to sincerely thank you all.
