4x4x48 for The Challenged Athletes Foundation
Tax deductible
The 4x4x48 Challenge was inspired by former Navy Seal, David Goggins, which involves running 4 miles every 4 hours for 48 hours. 48 miles total over 2 days and nights. We will be starting this challenge March 4th at 12pm to raise funds for the Challenge Athletes Foundation.
We (Preston and Ben) have been fortunate enough to participate in sports our entire lives. Through sports we have learned lessons in:
Grit
Perseverance
How to deal with losing
Passion
Winning
Teamwork
Communication
... on and on the list continues to grow
What we are trying to say is that we have learned invaluable lessons from participating in sports.
When a child or an adult loses a limb, health insurance only covers a walking prosthetic or wheel chair. They do not cover anything sports related, because sports is considered a luxury item. The price of a running prosthetic is $15,000. That is a significant amount of money and for a person that lost their limb, that is a life changing amount of money that allows them to participate in sports.
This fundraiser is for the Challenged Athletes Foundation because they support those with disabilities who could not participate in sport otherwise. That support comes in the form of prosthetics, training, and travel.
The barrier of entry for participating in sports should never be money. Period. Which is why we are raising money for the Challenged Athletes Foundation. We want to give all athletes the opportunity to learn and experience sports like we do.
