4x4x48 Challenge for Semper Fi & America's Fund
Tax deductible
This weekend, I will be participating in the 4x4x48 challenge to raise money for the Semper Fi and America’s Fund to support wounded, critically ill, and injured members of the U.S. Armed forces and their families.
The event is being held by former Navy Seal, David Goggins; and consists of running 4 miles, every 4 hours, for 48 hours from March 5th to March 7th to raise money for charity.
The Semper Fi & America’s Fund was started in 2003 when the first wave of Marines and Sailors came to Camp Pendleton, California after Operation Iraqi Freedom. Here, military spouses organized ‘welcome home’ activities for the wounded service members through distributing care bags, as well as arranged travel for family members who could not afford to come.
The Semper Fi & America’s Fund provides support through programs including service member and family assistance, post-service transition, and integrative wellness. Through veteran and family support, they address the needs of immediate families with programs such as housing assistance, bedside financial support, and kids’ programs. In addition, they assist service members in starting productive lives after service through education and career assistance. In addition to PTSD and TBI support, they take a holistic approach to long-term health through their NeuroFitness Programs and initiatives that provides counseling, as well as sport and art programs.
If it is within your means, any donations or support would be much appreciated. I will be logging all my runs and will be excited for the mental and physical challenge!
