4x4x48 for A Wish Come True, Inc.
Tax deductible
On March 30th, 2017, when I was 15 years old, I was given the life-changing news that I had Leukemia. I spent the next 2 years on treatment with The Tomorrow Fund Clinic at Hasbro's Children's Hospital. During my time at the hospital, I witnessed the shock, sadness, and pain my family, and other families, experienced from having a child with a life-threatening illness.
To mark the 5-year anniversary of my diagnosis, I wanted to give back to an organization that strives to put smiles on the faces of children with life-threatening illnesses. Which is why from March 4th to March 6th, I will be participating in the 4x4x48 challenge to raise money for A Wish Come True, Inc.
A Wish Come True is the oldest wish-granting organization in RI and have been doing so for over 36 years. Because of the generosity of A Wish Come True and its benefactors, my family and I were able to go on a cruise to celebrate the end of my treatment in May of 2019. My family and I will forever be grateful for this trip: time we were able to spend together and forget about my cancer for a few days.
The challenge consists of running 4 miles every 4 hours for 48 hours starting at 8 pm EST on Friday, March 4th. If I can't run, I will walk. And if I cannot walk, I will crawl-- no matter what, I will be completing the challenge.
I will run to honor those who have courageously fought, those who continue to fight every day, and those who have passed away.
Thank you for all of your support! I will be live streaming my runs via Instagram (@sluzzi17), and if you want to run one of the legs with me, send me a message!
