Unidos por J. Marco!

Jonathan Marco Guzmán Lara is sweet, friendly, smart and funny eight-year old boy, third-grade student with excellent grades. 

It all started when Jonathan Marco, playing with his older brother, got hit on his head… that was the trigger that helped to discover what was going on inside his head. From there on, the intense headaches started, so different medical studies were performed and just recently he has been diagnosed with a brain tumor, which radically changed his way of life and therefore affecting the whole family. Please join us praying and trying to help. 

Last month he was taken to the hospital and underwent emergency ventriculo-peritoneal shunt surgery in order to place a valve to help removing excess liquid from his brain to his stomach…because of this procedure Jonathan has kept stable but the focus should be on the tumor and that has to be done as soon as possible.  

In his case, the studies performed at the Dominican Republic were not conclusive, and that is why they were sent to a Lab in the United States, being the results positive for a tumor of glial origin. The local medical team indicated a surgery for a tumor resection, consisting on the removal of the tumor and afterwards radiation therapy or chemotherapy or both treatments.  

The studies performed to the boy were revised by a team of doctors in Miami for a definite diagnosis for a tumor of glial and, be able to surgery given the urgency of the current situation of Jonathan Marco. We need to finance the expensive treatments that this disease implies and the medicines and supplements that it takes every day.

Please help us to have peace of mind on the economic front so all our efforts be concentrated on the total care of our beloved Jonathan Marco…we want to maximize his quality of life chances while the risks are taking to a minimum. Given these circumstances, we would like Jonathan Marco to have the  surgery in the United States.

Jonathan Marco Guzmán Lara es un niño de 8 años de edad, muy dulce, amistoso, inteligente y divertido... estudiante de 3er. grado con excelentes calificaciones.

Todo empezó cuando Jonathan Marco jugando con su hermano mayor se golpeó la cabeza... este fue el detonante que ayudó a descubrir lo que estaba ocurriendo dentro de su cabecita. A raíz de esto empezaron los dolores de cabeza intensos, se le realizaron diferentes estudios y recientemente fue diagnosticado con un tumor cerebral, lo que radicalmente cambió su estilo de vida y afectó a toda la familia. Por favor, únete a nosotros en oración y tratando de ayudar.

El mes pasado el niño fue intervenido de emergencia y se le practicó una cirugía de derivación ventrículo peritoneal para la colocación de una válvula que ayuda a remover el líquido en exceso del cerebro a su estómago... gracias a esto el niño se ha mantenido estable pero debemos tratar el tumor lo más pronto posible.

En el caso de Jonathan Marco, las pruebas realizadas en República Dominicana no fueron concluyentes, por lo que se enviaron a un laboratorio en Estados Unidos cuya interpretación dió positivo para un tumor glial. El equipo médico local indicó una cirugía para la resección tumoral que consiste en extirpar el tumor y proceder con radioterapia o quimioterapia o ambos tratamientos.

Los estudios realizados al niño fueron revisados por un equipo de doctores en Miami para un diagnóstico definitivo de un tumor glial determinando la aplicación de la cirugía que, en la situación actual del niño, debe ser practicada con urgencia. Necesitamos financiar los costosos tratamientos que implica esta enfermedad y las medicinas y suplementos que toma cada día.

Ayúdanos a tener tranquilidad mental en cuanto al aspecto económico y poder concentrarnos totalmente en el cuidado de Jonathan Marco... queremos disminuir los riesgos y aumentar sus posibilidades de calidad de vida. Por todo esto y por su bienestar anhelamos poder realizarle la cirugía en Estados Unidos.
