Emergency Surgery for Milo
Donation protected
My very caring best-friend Sam recently decided to open her home to a lovely black Bombay cat she lovingly named Milo. Milo was a stray, under a year old found by someone who posted him online. Being that Sam already has a cat Maggie and plenty of room, she felt she could do her best to try and give this cat a loving home, as we know many strays do not find homes, and are often euthenized after many weeks at shelters. Sam did her due diligence and began the process of getting Milo shots and a check-up as she could afford them.
Of course, with life, comes slips, spills and accidents. And as with cats, we know know they are curious characters and especially while very young they are just finding their footing and like to test the boundaries of their physical capabilities. Combine the randomness of life and unbalanced cats, and this is how we've come to Milo's situation. Milo took an awful spill, from very high up and has now broken his hind leg. This usually playful dude has now been hobbling around when necessary, but mostly laying around trying to rest after his big spill. Of course Sam took him to the vet, and after some x-rays, it was determined, Milo will definately need surgery, asap.
Milo fractured his femur in such a way called a transverse fracture - meaning the bone is broken all the way through. A bone plate needs to be put in for surgery to bring the bone back together. Of course this is something that can't be left undone. Here is the part, where we need your help of course. Animal surgery, I'm sure to no one's surprise is incredibly expensive, and clearly not something no one can really anticipate.
After calling The Blue Cross, Veterinary Schools for quotes and asking about payment plans, the option Sam is left with is that the surgery needs to be done asap and it will cost AT LEAST $3000, possibly more, plus the enevitable check-up, blood work and antibiotics to come after. This is a large amount of money to come out of one's pocket so quickly and obviously - being her best friend, I would just give her the money if I had it.
So as any bestie I think would - I am asking for donations, of any kind, to help get this surgery underway, and get our little Milo back to his feet. Sam is the type of person who would give anything she has to help someone, especially an animal out. She is one of the best cat-mom's I know, and is an outspoken animal welfare and rights advocate, and she and Milo really need all the help they can get.
I offered to make this campaign for her as she was a little modest about asking for help, although she knows she needs it. As much as we would love donations from the kindness of everyone's heart - the quicker I can raise her some cash the quicker we can get this surgery done. However, Sam is also willing to give back something in return for the help. Great news is Sam is an experienced hair dresser. She graduated from Fiorio Beauty Academy and worked at Fiorio on Yonge for 5 years. She continues to cut my own hair and pretty much all of our mutual friends, and I have never had a single complaint. Not only would you be helping this emergency situation Milo is in, but you can also schedule an appointment with her to get an awesome trim or even an updo for this coming Halloween.
On that second note, we are great friends with some generous people at Embrace, who have offered up some pairs of concert tickets for RHYE, Parkway Drive and Dragonette/Young Empires at The Danforth Music Hall. So if you are a fan or music lover in general, heres a chance to get hooked up and help out big time!
This surgery has to be done as soon as possible, so the quicker everyone can spread the word, and get as many people as possible, the quicker we can get Milo back on his feet and having (safer) adventures again with Maggie. This would mean the world, to myself and Sam if we can get Milo some help. I'm sure many people have had to make hard decisions about their pets, and its heartbreaking to think of anything else. I love Sam so much and she has done so much for me, and I consider Milo just as much a part of her family as anyone human, I would love to be able to hep them out in her time of need. Thanks in advance to anyone who can offer anything, your kindness and generosity is greatly appreciated.

This surgery is an emergency, and if you would like to schedule an appointment to get your hair done, please be aware I will personally make sure it happens as timely as possible, however if by some chance there is an overwhelming request for trims, be aware Sam does work (2 jobs - like many of us in Toronto and the GTA) and this will be done on her off time. We both agree we will schedule and get as many trims done as quickly as possible, and proffessionally. But it is impossible of course to do them all at once or even in one day so they can be scheduled after the donation is made. We also welcome the idea of saving the cut for later, if you don't require a trim immediately. We hope you can empathise why this is necessary.
